This is the hide from Moonlight Elk, a cow elk I hunted near Cabresto Creek, New Mexico, in 2021. I skinned, fleshed, and prepared the hide for tanning. This elk has been a powerful inspiration for my first book, an interactive art exhibit, and multiple garments.
Regardless of the fabric, this print is unbound by the rules of seasons. She adapts and makes her way, as-is.
